Spiritual Alchemy Tip#7: Law of Gender -- "Gender is in everything; everything has its masculine and feminine principles; Gender manifests on all planes."

All of existence, all beings, all things contain the principle of yin-yang, or masculine-feminine. With the knowledge that everything has its poles and duality; everything also being interconnected thus rendering the notion of "separation" as a persistent illusion, or a half truth. Everything has masculine & feminine energy in order to create & to maintain balance; this applies to ourselves as well as the universe.

The law of gender can be found in organic and inorganic matter; in the operations of heat, light, magnetic poles, electricity, plants, minerals, electrons, etc. In a more universal context; in order for creation, procreation, generation, regeneration and production to happen...the masculine-feminine must be present. Even in the case of asexual organisms, they can only reproduce by themselves because they contain both principles within them.

Masculine/Feminine goes beyond just the physical aspects of gender because they are both expressions of energy. Both energies are needed to create, to make progress, to be healthy and to be in balance as a whole. Too much masculine energy can display itself as harshness or overbearingness in the personality. An excess of masculine energy can also express itself as recklessness, lack of emotional maturity, an inability to focus on the present moment, being result-oriented to a fault, being greedy/ego-driven or being so rational that one lacks empathy--or sensitivity--to others. An excess of feminine energy can lead one to be stagnant or overly passive, lacking ambition or confidence, being too emotional, self-sacrificing (martyr complex). This feminine imbalance can show as emotional or sexual manipulation. It may also be expressed as not planning for the future because you're only ever focused the present moment.

Reason without compassion can lead to severity, or harshness. Action without patience can lead to short-lived, or unmanifested, dreams. Strength without flexibility can lead to rigidity; quite similar to the old expression, “The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.” This expression is best explained by Bruce Lee, “Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”

This law is a call to look within yourself. Observe who you are and how you operate without bias. Where are overworking/overextending yourself? Do you have a habit of being too passive in life or maybe in your relationships? Are you so left-brained that you're narrow-minded to perspectives--or topics-- that can't be fully comprehended without the assistance of your right-brain hemisphere? Do you possibly have a habit of putting your needs/wants to the side for others, even when you truly don't want to? Are you ever fully immersed in the present moment? Or do you overwork to avoid introspection? Are you over focused on the future? Always planning but never fully living your life?

There are an innumerable amount of questions that can be asked to aid in the self-evaluation process required to see where you may need to balance out your energy, and/or environment. Know your habits & patterns. Observe yourself without judgement. Ask yourself why you do the things that you do. When going throughout the day, take notice of how you feel and why you’re feeling it. This process allows you to see where in your energy, life & environment needs more feminine or masculine energy.

This series has been an introduction into spiritual alchemy. This law is also the last of the 7 Hermetic Principles. These spiritual laws have withstood the test of time; used by Priests & Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt and Philosophers of Ancient Greece. Inventors & Creatives of the Italian Renaissance as well as American Revolutionaries, have also benefited from the wisdom and application of these metaphysical truths.

I truly appreciate all who have read the series so far. I hope that I've been able to facilitate the comprehension and personal application of the Hermetic Principles. May your life journey be enriched in every way.
